The Cake Was Great,So Delicious and Moist

And then you yelled 'Happy Birthday'
You threw up the confetti and
everything's okay.

Oh hey, it's a beautiful day

This was taken 2 years ago, during dil's 27th birthday. The plastic crazy-eyes spectacles were an impluse buy from far east because it reminded me of the goofy guy whom i fell in love with many years ago...and whom I'm married to, today =)
We had dinner at lau pa sat and proceeded to watch some fireworks along the way to marina.
The cake was presented at the steps of Marina Square because we had nowhere else to go but it had become a tradition ever since.

Me and You and Crazy Things We Do

Photobucket

Turns out, I have tons of other photos from previous years that have yet to be uploaded.
Maybe I'll get crazy, be productive and upload them one day.
Maybe.

The best thing is summer,
the best thing is spring
But what i hate most, is the weather in between.
You think so ? Really ?

Bohemian Glamour and Friendship Bands

Do you remember back in Pri school when friendship bracelets were the in-thing ? Well a friend of mine and I got into that topic yesterday when we were reminiscing the era when boy bands like Take That take prestige in our naïve little world and friendship was mostly about who agrees with you that the boy sitting in that fourth row was cute. The retrospective conversation ended up in shits and giggles and the question why adults do not exchange bracelets anymore. Is it because of the complexities of their social circle or their profound partiality for a conformed fashion sense ?

We concluded that humans, as adults are basically stupid, because friendship bracelets were cool.
So we decided to do a little exchange on our own.

I went online for ideas and found this website that rediscovers this quaint little tradition with a more stylish approach using safety pins and tiny beads.

You can read more from this blog Stylebytes.net.
Btw, for those who are thrift-shop trawlers and bargain-shoppers, you’ll love Agathe Bjørnsdatter. She’s a bohemian style-maven from Norway - on a budget.

Rocking. Hard.

I’m not a talented musician.
Hell I can’t even play a single instrument to save my life.
But over the weekend, I was up with six other non-musicians ripping the aural landscape with our rocking guitar riffs and drumbeats on plastic instruments.
When the Guitar Hero World Tour set that aidil pre-ordered was collected on Friday, we unwrapped the box with as much self-restraint as hugh hefner in a whorehouse. And once the set was up and the x symbol was lighted, we became an eclectic mayhem of sounds, unified by one sole purpose - to be rock god-famous, win gigs and accessories like Alice-in-Chains punk wristbands and of course, to unlock even cooler songs like Muse’s Assassin and La Bamba which we will ultimately suck at playing.

Yeah we were rock gods alright.

We pretty much whacked on the whammy bar and chopped the drums the whole night until we decided that its tres uncool to use the preset 3D characters. So we came up with our own band names and personalized our own 3D characters.

Presenting …THE SURS (you may bow now)

We will pretty much do this again every weekend until we find other things to do that doesn’t involve spending copious amounts of money or boiling vegetables. Not that we eat vegetables anyway but… you get my drift.

Plus, I kinda liked having people over to our houses for these pseudo jamming sessions.
It’s good to know that our pod’s an incubator for the musically-inclined (three of my cousins ended up buying real instruments after a session at our house)

The best part ?
You don’t even need talent, just opposable thumbs and a rocking attitude.

I'm here aren't I ?

We were late for work again. We seriously need to do an in-depth deconstruction of our daily routine 'cos taking cabs are starting to burn a major hole in our pockets.

On a typical work-day on days Dil works AM shifts we will always bicker cos

a) I couldnt stand how he has to deliberate for at least 20 minutes(!) on what to wear when he ONLY has 3 sets of shirts that he WOULD wear - i repeat ONLY THREE - every-single-freaking-day.

b) he couldnt stand my constant nagging and

c) ill pick the WORST time to remind him of certains errands to be done especially on such a trying morning

Of course, such squabbles are merely harmless reminders to push ourselves and each other cos truth be told, we're both equally useless when it comes to waking up early and being punctual. We covet weekend mornings (we call such mornings a 'lazy sunday' -- even if its a saturday. go figure) and will always look forward to coming home -- even before we stepped out of the house.

This illustration of our typical married life are sometimes the only highlight of the day, as apposed to those hours we spent in non-activity just canoodling in front of the big-ass tv.

As much as married life has its perks, theres always the danger of falling deep into the painfully comfortable boring-ol-married-couple situation where are our social life becomes a dead zero. *shudders*

So. I've therefore decided that from today onwards, we are going to pick a new activity to do each month.

Avenue Q anyone ?

Pak Pak Bing Bing

So another one of us got married.
It seemed only yesterday when we were young and still in poly, simply contented with just skipping classes, copying lecture notes and wasting the hours away talking pseudo-philosophical topics in the campus MacDonalds and bitching about lecturers.

those were definitely the time when we still had the wind in our hair and the world on our shoulders - before we even discovered overtime pays, bills and a socially-challenged future.

*sigh*
Well anyways, mat no's wedding was gorgeously held in the Glass Hall at Woodlands CC.

It was little more upscale than the semi-regular types of weddings you'd find normally.

They opted for the wedding march as they walked down the aisle to the dais, as opposed to the traditional kompang, complete with flower girls, bridesmaids and best men.
It was beautiful, just as it was to be expected for the couple.

Wishing you both an everlasting marital bliss, and here's to all our future.

Hey You Human Punchbag

Weird shit of a day. Let the Psycho III theme song loop in the background cos we just had a run-in with the schizo from hell.

There was melodrama when ayu, nurul, maya and me were sitting around at starbucks today. A man in his mid-40s simply went berserk and started screaming to the people at the table next to us (for no apparent reasons by the way). The highlight of the day happened when he went uber-violent & started throwing his glass bottle at them in a fit. Glass pieces scattered and random vulgarities were spat incessantly. Screamed again. Threw a chair.
Take note that they do not know each other. The victims were just stduents and prolly have not even met Joe Bizarro before in their whole damn life prior to this unfortunate incident. Just an unlucky random picked out from the masses of other slightly-luckier randoms

5 mins later bouncers suddenly appeared from all sides for some pseudo-act of saving justice (its like superman meets california fitness personal trainers kinda thang) and thats when the man started to walk away.
But for the grand finale, he did manage to throw in a 'FUCK YOU AH' and an incoherent 'CIBAI' for some good measure.

It was bloddy scary man. Already, there was a death metal band playing in my head and everyone looked ready to flee. and when i say everyone, i meant especially ME.
But of course, there was that AVOID-EYE-CONTACT-AT-ALL-COST-OR-HE-MIGHT-ATTACK-YOU-NEXT unspoken thing going on..so we just stayed put.
Craziness doesnt even begin to describe it. Someone needs to shop for some brand new strait jackets.

And yet, heh, we even managed a lame attempt to joke about it on the way back home.

fiz: ok kalau orang tu datang lagi, kiter buat posing cam charlie's angel
maya : k. aku buat cam gini
*enacted something that vaguely resembles a lucy-liu meets bruce lee meets high-5(?!) kungfu pose*
nurul : abih ayu ngan yan ?? ( referring to the other 2 friends behind us)

*silence*

fiz: dorang background props.

Underlined-in-red text horror

Somewhere between few days ago and today, its been raining non-stop.
Somewhere between few days ago and today, id been wishing that my feet had oars.
Somewhere between yesterday and today, id been ambulating about in wet puddles, avoiding speeding cars and holding on to my umbrella for dear life lest i do a Mary Poppins flying trick.

The weather is depressing. Sentosa outing was dreadfully truncated due to the rain. It could have been terrific. We had transport for once, spare cash to spend on food and most importantly, had people who could actually make it. And then the cloudy skies had to happen, followed by the slight drizzle, and finally the mild rainstorm.

We spent a total of 40mins in the water, and the rest of the day trying to avoid it.
Staying indoors could have sucked serious monkey nuts but i guess the total misgivings of how great the day couldve been was saved by playing pool at Harbourfront.
and oh yey i almost-won twice.

We took pictures. There was a total of 3 cameras plus one polaroid.
At the pool table, we shot from the hip.
And the waist.
And the calf.
It was a frenzy of eye to thumb to trigger-happy index finger coordination as there was little else we could do.

I guess it didn't turn out too bad. i just wished the sun couldve shone a little brighter so i can try out my new aviators again. ehheh.
